Summary: The hotel is ideal to use as a base for Kumano Kodo trail as it is has regular buses to all the tourist areas. The hotel is quite basic but this is a small town. I would encourage all to try the local restaurants which look like they may or may not be open but be brave and you will eat some amazing food. The Tourist Info Centre is excellent and very helpful - with english speaking offering.
