Summary: The Javanese house itself was an interesting experience. It was a lovely 'kampung', meaning, village experience. To walk through the buah salak plantation from the house to the main building was a very pleasant walk. Meeting the locals, humans, fowls, cows, cats , frogs. Well lighted pathways. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
The house was not as depicted in the website. Although a kitchen was provided. We were not told that it was a shared kitchen. the compound is also shared by two houses. This was not stated. Our neighbours after using, left it as is. We decided to forgo the kitchen. Was not worth any attempt. Only on the third day, were the floors swept thoroughly. We are aware that Jogya as a whole has problems with running water. But it is of no shame, if these issues are highlighted to guests. Repeated requests daily for towels was a necessity. Showers were broken. Sink leaking. When it poured, the rain welcomed us inside the house. We didnt watch TV, but tested it, it's better to not provide. Overall staff are very helpful and friendly. Our supir Achmad was very helpful, polite and obliging. Request for water (filter ) was a necessity. Upon arrival it was near to empty. No clothes hangers provided. It's a shame that the house is not done up and maintained. People go to experience the local culture. and this is an amazing house with its gardens. Most enjoyable. The wooden crafted beams, structure are a sight to behold. I would go again, only if what is depicted in the website is really what it is. I understand the chalets nearer the main office were in a better state. Plus we had a problem upon checking out. They claimed they did not receive any confirmation from Homestay that we had paid. Plus they took a deposit payment and banked into their account. We insisted on the surplus to be paid by cash, although they tried to convince us to give bank account number, saying they would credit/ debit our account later. Overall it was a pleasant stay. Could have been far better for the price we paid. Homestay please do not make the same mistake other online agents make. Claim with photos that the abode is nice, and paint an amazing picture. But in reality it is nothing close or near when we actually see the place. Do make an effort to physically check the place. Customers pay for that trust. Thank you.
